When Servicing Won’t Fix It: How to Know if It’s a Deeper Fault

Not all aircon issues can be solved by cleaning. Strange noises, leaks, or weak cooling often point to a deeper fault — not dirt. This guide explains when a system likely needs real repair, not just a wipe-down.
What Servicing Is Actually For
Servicing is preventive.
It helps restore airflow, improve hygiene, and reduce minor strain.
When your system has dirt-related symptoms — like light smells, slow airflow, or dust buildup — a clean helps.
But when the system is acting up?
Don’t assume it “just needs servicing.”
Some Signs That Point to a Deeper Fault
If you’re seeing any of these, it’s not a dirt issue. It’s technical — and it needs a proper check.
Unit turns on, but airflow is dead or weak
Possible fault: Blower motor, relay board, or electrical signal dropout.
Cooling was strong, then suddenly dropped
Possible fault: Gas loss, pressure control fault, or sensor misread. Dirt doesn’t cause sudden change.
Unit shuts off mid-run or blinks
Possible fault: Overheat protection, PCB error, or feedback loop fault.
Leaking continues after servicing
Possible fault: Tilted unit, cracked tray, or drainage design flaw. Not a flushing issue.
System has been cleaned, but problem persists
That’s your clue. Cleaning didn’t fix it. The issue is deeper.
Why Guessing Doesn’t Work
We’ve seen customers clean their systems twice — still not cold.
Or book “chemical overhauls” when the real issue is a faulty part.
Worse, we’ve seen other providers skip diagnosis and just upsell blindly.
That’s not aircon care. That’s trial and error.
How We Handle It
At Snowflake, we don’t assume.
We confirm first.
You tell us the issue
We assess remotely where possible
If unclear, we recommend a $30 on-site check to isolate the real fault
Only then do we prescribe work — servicing, repair, or both
Final Word
Servicing isn’t a fix-all. It plays a role — but only when it’s the right tool.
If your system’s acting up, let us confirm what’s wrong.
Guessing wastes time. Diagnosis saves it.
